The center provides individual counselling and group support meetings to assist consumers in maximizing their independence and strengthening coping and self-advocacy skills. Issues that can be addressed include: difficulty adjusting to one’s disability, personal assistance management and financial planning. The consumer identifies the issues and directs the course of the counselling that is not diagnostic or clinical in nature.

WDOMI assist consumers with managing their own personal care needs by maintaining a referral list of potential personal care assistants and advising consumers individually or in groups about directing their own personal care.
