ADA’s 35th Anniversary Celebration

  • by

On July 24, Westchester County and Board of Legislators hosted a celebration for the 35th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  In years past, Westchester Disabled On the Move had organized the celebration because we felt it was important to commemorate a law that has made such a difference in the lives of people with disabilities. Thanks to Westchester County Legislator Nancy Barr, who is on the county’s advisory board for People with Disabilities, for being the impetus behind the county taking over this event. This is the second year, and it was a very moving afternoon. We thank Westchester County for its commitment to promoting equal access, empowerment, and inclusion for individuals with disabilities. We thank Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins and congratulate Office for People with Disabilities Director Evan Latainer upon his retirement. We also congratulate those individuals and organizations who were recognized for their work advocating for people with disabilities. Recognized were:

White Plains Common Council Member and WDOM attorney in the Lyft case Jeremiah Frei Pearson; Millie Hernandez Becker and the Jacob Burns Film Center.
