Housing Workshop: Housing Rights for People with Disabilities

Westchester Residential Opportunities’ (WRO) Fair Housing Director John P. Herrion will speak on housing rights for persons with disabilities, including protections created by the Olmstead decision, which mandates integration of persons with disabilities into their communities. He will also cover federal, state, and local laws that protect persons with disabilities from discrimination and speak to relationship building WRO is doing with the real estate industry to ensure that real estate professionals comply with rights for persons with disabilities. Mr. Herrion is an attorney with extensive experience in civil rights for persons with disabilities. He served as the Director of Disability Rights for the New York State Division of Human Rights from 2008–2024.
