OUR DISABILITY IS OUR STRENGTH

[pullquote]

“Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.” – Rikki Rogers

OVERCOME THE THINGS YOU ONCE THOUGHT YOU COULDN’T DO, BY DOING IT DIFFERENTLY.

[/pullquote]By now, you have heard all the precautions, and I hope you are carefully following them. One thing I will take away from this crisis is that thanks to my disability, I have advantages that others don’t. Thanks to my blindness, I am already careful about where I put my hands; what I touch. Thanks to my blindness, I always have at least a one to two-month supply of food staples.   Thanks to my blindness, I have an extra dose of patience and tolerance.

Please take the time to make a list of your own strengths and advantages derived from your disability that will get you through this challenging period in your life.  Despite the obstacles our mind and body may have, we persevere every day to do what needs to be done.   We get it done.  At the end of this crisis, let’s look back and think about what we learned about ourselves and celebrate our will to survive.

Everyone at WDOMI wishes good health to you and your family.

Stay Safe!
