BENEFITS ADVISEMENT AND ADVOCACY
WDOM advocates for consumers at the individual level. We work to ensure that public and private programs and services are available to people with disabilities and that the programs encourage independent community living.
Staff will assist consumers in obtaining and maintaining benefits such as Social Security Disability, Supplemental Security Income, Medicaid, Medicare, Personal Assistance and other forms of public assistance. In addition, consumers are assisted in returning to the workforce by receiving Benefits Advisement explaining the Social Security Work Incentives and the Medicaid Buy In for working People with Disabilities.
WDOM in collaboration with ACCES (vocational rehabilitation) will work to assist you in reaching your employment goals. WDOM provides ACCES orientations on a regular basis where the consumer will learn about the services that ACCES offers and the steps to apply. To register for an orientation, please call the ACCES office in White Plains at 914-946-1313.

COMMUNITY HEALTH ADVOCATE (CHA)
This program assists in navigating the complex healthcare system by providing individual assistance, outreach, and education to communities. This is an “all-payer” program, providing one-stop services to consumers with public or private coverage or no coverage. We help consumers find and navigate health coverage or access low-cost or free care, solve billing issues, understand health care reform and their health care rights, and so much more. This program can:
- Answer your questions about Medicare and Medicaid eligibility and or billing questions.
- Advise about your Medicare Advantage, supplemental insurance, and drug plan options.
- Help you with any post-enrollment issues and surprise billing.
- Help you join a pooled trust to keep excess income and still qualify for Medicaid
