The stakes and emotions were high throughout this presidential election, and now the outcome is in the rear-view mirror. As before, WDOM will continue focusing on our mission and services. For forty years, we have been a leading advocate for People with Disabilities and their right to live independently in their community and vote independently. That will not change.
During this time, it is natural to have a wide range of emotions, so yes, we are deeply concerned about how our ability to assist will be affected. However, we are also aware that many of the local legislators who support People with Disabilities are still in office. We are confident they will continue to encourage disability-friendly services.
The disability community is diverse and intersectional, and we 100% support this diversity. This election may have focused on our differences, but the next step is to focus on unity and reaffirm our commitment to inclusion. WDOM remains nonpartisan and ready to assist our community by doing our part to urge open dialogue, mutual respect, inclusivity, and resilience.
Together with our partners, we will continue to make a difference.
With Sincere Hope for the Future,
Maria Samuels, Executive Director
