Many thanks to the Board of Legislators and Legislator Nancy Barr for supporting the people with disabilities of Westchester County. They agree that those with disabilities have a right to be part of their community like everyone else. WDOM has received $64,691 for two key programs that support WDOM’s mission to help people with disabilities Live Independently.
Fair Housing: Accessible and Affordable Housing program will assist People with Disabilities and their families to find and maintain accessible, affordable housing.
My Home Not Nursing Home will keep people out of nursing homes and help them live independently in the community with subsidized accessible housing if eligible and provide the ongoing supports needed to remain an active member in our Westchester communities. Institutionalization is not the only option. Learn more about the program here or call 914-968-4717.
“I was pleased to advocate for funding for WDOM’s life-changing programs, My Home, Not Nursing Home and Accessible, Affordable Housing in the 2025 budget, and am grateful that my colleagues on the Board of Legislators agreed that these programs are worthy of support. Every resident of Westchester deserves to be treated with dignity and to have a safe and secure place to live. These two programs help people with disabilities to live as independently and affordably as possible. None of this work would be possible without the devoted staff at WDOM, who work tirelessly to provide these services for adults with special housing needs,’’ said Westchester County Legislator Nancy Barr.
